How much beer is in a keg?
Keg sizes and the beer offered in keg sizes vary; compare the keg size listed in the keg list to the chart above. Imported beers are typically offered in import kegs, which may require a special tap. American macrobrews (think: Budweiser, Coors, Michelob, Miller) are typically offered in 1/4 and 1/2 barrels. American microbrews are offered in a variety of sizes, subject to brewery choice of delivery.
How much beer should I get for my party?
While that depends on how much your friends drink, certified party planners recommend an average of 3 beers per person.
How much does a keg cost?
The cost depends on the beer chosen; see the keg list; listed prices are estimates and are subject to change. Most sixers start around $70 and go up to over $250, depending on the beer selected. For micro brewed craft beers, most pony kegs start around $120 and half barrels start around $180. In addition to the keg cost, a keg deposit ($30) is required, but is refundable upon return of the keg.
Do I need any accessories?
To access the beer in the keg, you'll need a tap. Most sixer kegs use a regular Sankey tap...so if you've got a kegerator in your home bar, you're probably set. However, some kegs require Euro Sankey tap (European kegs, e.g., Hoegaarden) or Soda Pop-style tap (e.g., Boundary Bay kegs). If you're having a party and don't have a kegerator, you may also need a large bucket and lots of ice to keep your keg chilled.
What if I don't have a tap?
CHOICE BEVERAGE has a supply Sankey (D System) taps available for a rental with deposit fee of $50. It will be refunded upon return of tap. You must obtain your own taps for kegs requiring Hoff Stephens, Euro Slider (A System, G System), and other (U System, M System) couplers. Taps may be available for you to purchase from companies such as MicroMatic or BeverageFactory website.
